i am writing two papers this summer, and commencing on some other projects as well.

first:
for Networks and International Development, a paper on educational development in Africa.

second:
for "fun", a comparative analysis of Somali pirates and Al Qaeda. I started thinking about this through a short post i wrote for the class linked above, in terms of the institutions of trust that might have arisen in each of these two groups. I think an analysis could go further, though: incorporating network structure; bringing in economic geography; reading the media coverage of each group as a set of cultural texts; and so on and so forth. I have put it on temporary hold until the first paper is done, though.

the other things i'm working on this summer include
- the website for The Circus Book -- we may just end up with a nicely arranged blog.
- my own chapbook, and the collaborative one
- painting and other renovations in my apartment
- handyman work, if i can get it
- going to PARIS
- baking more bread

and so on and so forth
